An EICR involves a thorough inspection of all fixed electrical installations in a property. A qualified electrician tests wiring, sockets, light fittings, the fuse board, and earthing arrangements. The report grades any defects by severity and confirms whether the installation is satisfactory or requires remedial work.
A standard fuse board upgrade typically takes 4–6 hours to complete. This includes removing the old board, installing a new unit with modern RCD and MCB protection, testing all circuits, and issuing an electrical installation certificate. The power will be off during the swap but is restored the same day.
Yes. Since October 2015, landlords in England must have at least one smoke alarm on every storey and a carbon monoxide alarm in rooms with solid fuel or gas appliances. The alarms must be tested at the start of each tenancy. A fire alarm certificate confirms compliance.
